First Weekend

Well my first weekend as Venue manager is over.
It was certainly a baptism by fire, Chucked in the deep end and forced to sink or swim

On friday night i had some bikies pick a fight with liquor licensing inside of my club. Bikies are always a bit of a touchy situation as they can make your life very difficult if they choose to.
But not as touchy as liquor licensing who can shuy my club down with zero notice if they deem it necisary. So when you put these two groups together and one starts picking a fight with the other you can imagine me. Stuck between a hardplace and a wall

However it didnt explode into conflict *phew*

other than that friday night was pretty good. Early close again but considering it was Godskitchen at metro city that night and spring in the valley the next day it didnt really surprise me

Saturday night i had "New Generation" which is a local group of Drum n Bass guys who have been playing at Maxx on a regular basis for the last year or so. They have repeatedly been bringing in small groups and not much money of the bar and constantly complain when i close the venue early on them. This time was differant though, one of their MC's thought it would be a good idea to start giving me shit while on the mic

NOT A GOOD IDEA

So i turned on the light and killed power to their little shindig and told the 30 or so patrons to get out of the club. Then proceeded to give New Generation a grilling and told the to pack up their shit and get the fuck out of my club. (was quite satisfying)
They will be lucky if they ever play at my club ever again and if i want to be a prick about it i could prolly make sure that they will never play in Perth ever again. They havnt pissed me off enough to do this yet but they where not far off at the time.

All in all my 1st weekend as venue manager was an intersting one
but i pulled through
looking forward to next friday which should be alot busier as there is nothing else major going on in Perth friday night or the following saturday

And the winds of change are Blowing

Sooo i recently got promoted to venue manager of a nightclub. Its a pretty big step up considering 2 and a half to 3 months ago i was only head glassy.
It both excites me and scares me.
Its exciting because finally my decisions make a difference, I can change what i want, i can do what i want around the club. No more seeing something that i know could be getting done better and not being able to do anything about it
however on the flip side i am now responsible for so very very much more. I am now the person accountable for everything.

The winds of change are blowing and im flying my kite high!!
